Forward:   A memory never to forget,

Laying in the Intensive Care room of  Sarasota Memorial Hospital in the early hours of January 3rd, 2025

the two pipes in my throat were coursing me to constantly gag, it was like the feeling of drowning.

A kindly nurse held my hand, speaking to me softly till she removed those pipes.

Later I found out she had been a military nurse, helping many in worse situations than myself.

A few days later in my hospital room, I wrote a poem to all those that willingly go into harm’s way

to selfishly help those in need.

Writing books is what I enjoy doing, but writing poems is more like a passion.

This poem is dedicated to those nurses.

Respectful.

The Angels In Harm’s Way

In a land far away, where  harm is daily,

She toils through the hush, where soft lanterns glow.

To the weary and the lost, she offers grace,

A light in the dark, a warm, safe embrace.

A nurse so caring, a friend strong and true,

Yet still whispers of longing drift softening in her mind,

Deep in her heart, beneath all she gives,

A quiet desire, a dream that burns deep inside her,

A longing that still lives.

A soulmate unseen, a love yet untold,

A strong hand meant to gather the pieces,

of that broken heart she still holds.

One day, when the stars weave fate into gold,

She’ll find in the night what her heart long for.

A hunger remains that no one knows.

A touch she dreams, a love yet untold,

A fire that shivers but never grows cold,

A voice in the night, a hand meant to stay.

A heart that will find her- through an ocean a world away.

This verse is dedicated to all the nurses in harm’s way
