Welcome to a special new series from author Peter A. Moscovita, offering readers a glimpse into a more personal and poetic side of his creative work.
While Peter is known for his novels and stories, he also writes deeply reflective poetry—some inspired by personal experience, others by the quiet thoughts that stir when no one else is watching.
In this first post, Peter shares three original poems: one about life’s journey, one about healing and hope, and one that introduces this new poetic side of himself.
The Other Side of Peter
Most of you know me as an author, hopefully you are enjoying my
library of books.
But what you may not know
Is my love for poetry and verse and on occasion, lyrics.
A friend in Germany who loves to sing and write her own lyrics
mentioned in casual conversation,
“Why is it you don’t add your poetry to the blog on this website?”
Well, starting with this first post I will be adding new poems.
If you enjoy these poems, then it’s up to you
to send me a request to add additional pieces.
The Book of Life
We enter this world, a book fresh and new,
Its pages unmarked, its stories yet to be told.
With each step we take, the ink starts to flow,
Through laughter and heartache, through moments we grow.
Some pages are golden, bright as the sun,
Filled with adventure, in love and harm.
Others are shaded in sorrow’s embrace,
Ink smudged by trial that time won’t erase.
Yet all of these chapters, dark and the light,
Shape the great novel that we get to write.
Till one day we reach the final page,
A story completed, a life fulfilled.
And as the book closes, its tale is told,
Bound by memories, more precious than gold.
Though we depart, our words live on,
Etched in the heart of those that remain.

The Long Road Back
Alone in the darkness, the weight of surgery still too fresh to forget,
It hangs over me.
I face the challenge of returning to a normal life,
A world of light and laughter, free from strife.
With each new dawn, I seek the strength to rise,
To find the courage,
To let the pain subside.
Steps once small now seem mountainous and steep,
But hope’s soft whisper calls me from the deep.
In the shadow,
Memories of better days brightly reside,
Waiting for dawn to break,
With a brand-new day.
Whispers of healing in my heart’s guide,
I’ll embrace the journey,
Come what may—
The dawn heralds the start of a brand-new day.
