Each year we celebrate a holiday, the Fourth of July,
Fireworks, flags in the summer skies.
But how many truly pause and think,
About the weight carried on that special day.
A parchment signed with trembling hand,
A nation born from courage and defiance and hope.
Ordinary people choosing extraordinary risks,
So future generations could breathe the air of freedom.
We cheer the rockets’ red glare, but seldom hear the quiet prayers,
Of those who marched into uncertainty.
Believing freedom was worth the cost,
So as the sky lights up tonight, may a moment of stillness find us all.
May we honor not just the celebration, but the sacrifice, the struggle, the dream,
For July 4 th is more than a holiday, it is a reminder whispered through time:
Freedom is fragile.
Each generation must choose to keep it alive.
